The Best Way to do a Concert in Shipshewana

Although a small town in Amish country, Shipshewana is home to some pretty big artist names when it comes to concerts! With multiple venues in town, the main one being the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center, Shipshewana is the perfect spot to come and enjoy a concert.

Where to Eat

If you’re attending a concert at the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center, I recommend adding on the dinner/theatre package to your tickets! You have the option to do so when buying your tickets. This package includes your theatre ticket of course, and a trip to the Blue Gate Restaurant’s delicious all-you-can-eat buffet!

The location of the buffet changes occasionally, and most of the time is at the Blue Gate Restaurant, although sometimes it is at the same venue as the show. Make sure and be checking your email for these instructions! Be sure to show up plenty early, as the restaurant is exceptionally busy on evenings that have concerts.

When to Show Up

For concerts at the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center the doors open up one hour before showtime, and I recommend showing up within the first 15-30 minutes after the show starts. This way, you have plenty of time to get artist merchandise and grab a snack from the concessions and give yourself plenty of time to find your seat. If you are looking for an all-day experience, come to town early and explore the Shipshewana Flea Market, and various other places to shop.

Do People Stand?

People are often wondering, do people stand during the concerts? Depending on the concert and the crowd, yes, the crowd will be standing. Often the artists even ask people to stand, so be ready to jump up and stand, clap, and dance!

Bags

Due to a new rule instituted at the Blue Gate Performing Arts Center, purses and bags larger than 4.5×6.5 will not be allowed. This rule is meant to keep people from bringing in unwanted items, which in turn improves the safety and quality of our venue. However, clear bags that are gallon sized are allowed, and medical bags are allowed as well. Check out the full requirements for the bag policy HERE.

The Blue Gate Performing Arts Center is a state-of-the-art venue in Shipshewana, Indiana, and we are proud to host a number of artists such as Gary Allan, Bill Engvall, Michael W Smith, Josh Turner, Phillip Phillips, Trace Adkins, and more! We hope to see you at a concert at the performing arts center soon!
